If you are looking for the perfect place to relax with wonderful views of the sea, fresh air and tranquility – then you may have just found it. This delightful property, overlooking a 9 hole golf course, is located in the Nature Park of Oyambre, a protected area of Cantabria; it is just 5km from Comillas which has a good selection of shops and restaurants, a wide sandy bay, and a wealth of interesting architecture. In the late 19th Century, after a stay by the Royal Family of King Alfonso XII, Comillas became a much sought after holiday residence for the aristocracy, with residences such as Ocejo and Portilla being commissioned. In 1888 the magnificent Sobrellano Palace was completed for the Marquis of Comillas, and a few years later a young Gaudi designed a summer house for the Marquis’ brother-in-law. This building, called El Capricho is nowadays a stylish restaurant! About 10km in the other direction is the village of San Vicente De La Barquera which has a huge beach and numerous fish restaurants.
The house is placed in a really special location. It is off a quiet lane at the end of a hamlet just 1km walk from the beautiful beach and estuary of Oyambre. In season, bread vans (daily), mobile butchers and grocers (1 per week) can provide local produce for the hamlet, whilst there is an excellent restaurant La Rabia with outdoor tables only 1.5km away; choose from a selection of mountain stews, beans with clams, battered anchovies and fresh fish.
