Once home to a donkey that worked the surrounding land, Los Establos was recently renovated using natural materials to create a pretty and comfortable house. The views from here are wonderful, and at night the twinkling lights of the distant villages are entrancing. Los Establos is just 10 minutes drive from the village of Colmenar, which has two supermarkets plus other small shops; it is dotted with bars and cafés where you can enjoy tapas or good local food. From here you can easily visit Cordoba and Granada which are each 1.5 hours drive away
Details of AccommodationDown a quiet sandy track, this recently completed cottage is comfortable and compact. Enter to the cool open-plan kitchen/living room, with wood burning stove, sofa, wicker chairs, TV, DVD and a dining table and chairs seating 4, plus the kitchen; this has wooden cupboards, marble work surfaces with an electric oven and hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer. The interesting mix of antique windows and doors and Moroccan lamps gives the house a cosy feel. To the left is a twin bedroom with windows looking out to the pool. Along a corridor is a bathroom with bath, shower over, WC and basin. The second bedroom has a double bed and French windows opening out to the pool area, with wonderful views to the mountains behind that are behind.
From the living area large doors open to a stone tiled patio with a round swimming pool 9m x 4m approx surrounded by almond and olive trees, and the most amazing view. There is a barbecue and a large table with umbrella ideal for outdoor dining.
