Between Jimena de la Frontera and Gaucin, there is a hillside scattered with lovely houses known as La Almuna. Casa Laibon is on this hillside, commanding views across the valley to the National Park of Cortes. In spring and autumn, this is a walker’s paradise. The villages of Gaucin and San Pablo are 10 minutes drive away and Ronda is just over an hour. The Mediterranean coast, with the marina at Sotogrande, is half an hour by car.
Details of Accommodation
This house is interesting in layout, with terraces and eating areas on all sides so that you can enjoy the ‘sol y sombra’. It has been built to extremely good standards throughout with lovely terracotta floors and quality wooden windows. From the entrance hall a passageway to the right leads to a storeroom, garage entrance and cloakroom, and then into the kitchen. Here there is a microwave oven, conventional electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and fridge-freezer, a small eating area and doors leading to the terrace.
The dining room is next to the kitchen and this has a lovely beamed ceiling, hand decorated with a trellis of trailing morning glory. Terraces lead off this room too, on each side, so that you can choose according to sun and shade. Next to this is the living room, again with a lovely tall-beamed ceiling. There are windows on all sides and a terrace overlooking the pool and beautiful views. The room is very comfortable with floral sofas and chairs, a fireplace and colour washed walls. On the left-hand side of the central patio, steps lead up to a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom/WC.
A curved staircase leads down to the lower floor and here there is one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, all with their own en-suite bathrooms. There is also a study/bedroom with twin beds and en-suite bathroom. Three of the bathrooms have shower, toilet and handbasin; the master bedroom has a bath, separate shower, twin handbasins and toilet. All the bedrooms have French doors leading out.
The swimming pool is 10m x 5m with steps down and a cascade at one end. There are mature holmoak trees blending in with the surroundings perfectly.
There is a washing machine or the maid will cook and do laundry if required, payable locally. If you would like gourmet ‘take-away’ food, this is on hand too. Before 15/7 and after 25/8 there are special rates for 5 people or less occupying the property.
