Colmenar is an authentic white village in the hills, forty-five minutes north-east of Malaga. El Buho, named after the owls, is a blissfully quiet place with only the goat's bells to interrupt the peace. Birdwatchers will enjoy the Imperial eagles too, and the song of the nightingales.
The house overlooks breathtaking countryside, ten minutes from the village. Nearby are local bars and restaurants, and villages to explore. The Mediterranean coast of Torre del Mar is half an hour away. This is an ideal stepping off point for Granada and Cordoba, each an hour and a half s drive, and Seville, two and a half hours.
Details of Accommodation
Whilst the accommodation is alongside the owner's house, it is set down from it and completely private. You walk down to the property, which is surrounded by terracing, with views onto the expansive valleys and hills. There is a living area with comfortable sofas, TV and video, a wood burning stove, dining table and chairs and the kitchen. This is well equipped with gas oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. The floors are tiled throughout with terracotta and an attractive frieze. A door leads to a tiled shower room/wc with a shower, toilet and handbasin. This is shared by the two twin bedrooms which are decorated in sunny colours with lovely views across the countryside. The double bedroom has traditional furniture, French doors opening onto the terrace and an en-suite shower room/wc. A washing machine is available in the utility room.
The swimming pool is below the terrace and measures 6m x 3m with stunning views over the mountains. There is a built-in barbecue on the terrace.
